Gratitude - a Simple habit with amazing benefits!

Try the 28 day gratitude guide below to help improve your mood, mindset and wire your brain for more positive interactions with the world.

Gratitude is the practice of consciously taking the time to appreciate one or more aspect of your life, that serves you positively and makes you feel good.

It could be a person, an opportunity, an act of kindness, a hobby, an interaction, experience etc.

For optimal benefit you should write down these aspects of which you're grateful, otherwise simply take a few minutes to appreciate them internally.

How does this help?

When experiencing the feeling of gratitude you are raising the positive chemicals in your brain.

These chemicals are associated with improved memory, learning, mood, immunity, even performance outcomes at work, healthier relationships and a longer life!

It's an instant way to create a mental shift (within both your brain and body) that leads to better outcomes from your experiences and interactions with the world.

When your brain is more resourceful in this way, you become better at communicating, have higher levels of confidence, are more determined to complete difficult tasks, have higher levels of empathy towards others and more.

You could imagine how all of these mental shifts make you a better employee, manager, partner, parent etc.

THERE'S MORE!

This tool re-wires your brain over the long term.

When practicing gratitude often your brain learns to highlight positive experiences without your conscious effort.

People tend to forget the little things that made their day better,

and remember the things that made their day a little worse.

This is called the negativity bias and is built into functioning from a young age as a survival mechanism. Those who exercise gratitude often have a more accurate representation of the good things in their life as well.

They are more accurate at realising opportunities that are or could be available, the things that are within their control and why their life is how it is.

When you wire your brain to highlight positive experiences more fluently, you're able to notice opportunities for that benefit you (even in unfortunate circumstances) where a negative a mindset would be blind to them.
